It is highly likely that crash is related to Freelook flag. Someone need to confirm this, but disabling freelook prior to transition screen than re-enabling it could be enough to pass the bug

Drakan crash pretty frequently on modern hardware - 445++ removed only that problems that made finishing game impossible (and even not all of them);
When Surreal was working on D. they ran out of deadline and had little time for true QA, so the game has still many ragged edges.
