You say you mounted the image; is this an iso image? If so you will probably have to burn it to CD so the game can work from that - it may have problems with virtual CD drives.

To be honest I thought it would be shut down long ago. There was nothing but spam obvious lowlight didnt care about it anymore

It should do, hold shift whilst clicking on Drakan or go to riot engine options in the game's start menu group. There you can set the sound options.

There are a few problems on certain cards. No patch fixes just the sound option on it's own. I would turn off A3D support in the riot engine options (hold shift whilkst starting or start menu) for starters. Then try the other options. On Vista / Win7 systems both EAX and A3D should be off.

I would completley uninstall the game then install from the CD again selecting full installation then apply the 445 patch. Do not install any mods yet or "unofficial" patches such as 445++ and try and run the game again. You will need to enable developer mode - see help pages on main site ...

Are you patched to V445 at the moment? If so try a re-install as some of the game files may have been modified / corrupt by 3rd party mods and maps you may have installed.
