Conquest Anniversary Edition

Post by prospero »

Thought I'd start a new thread. [8D]

Still got a bit to do on the save-friendly version. I'm up to the big lava cave.

I've made a few changes to lighting to improve performance and hopefully cure any crash bugs. I've kept in the Salamanders, but moved them slightly.

Snap of the first position. I've made the outside atmos slightly misty. Not too much. Just enough to give a sense of distance.

Some of the caves are very dark in OGL on default settings so I have lightened them up a bit.

I'm thinking of making Player respawn automatic so you don't have to press a key. Also I want to make it so when you take armour when using a MP skin, you don't revert to the wrong outfit but still get the armour benefits.

Looking good! [:D]

Is there any real need for the respawn now that the savegame works?

Thought about junking the respawn, but I think it's a nice feature and it gives a series of steps to follow. Also saves a lot of reloading and you get a penalty for getting killed, so extra objective for getting top rank.

Well it's been a few weeks but I am still working on it.[:)]

The save code is basically sound now. One annoying graphic issue where some lava texture doesn't appear properly in the saved game. That may be just my PC. Also had a bit of trouble with crashes near bonfires. I have tried replacing the bonfires with wall torches and so far no more crashes.
Dome some not too radical remodelling of the map. Hope SR will approve.[:p]
Made new Knightshade weapons for each character and added a few tweaks to the powerup code so when you gain an extra special damage you get immunity to the same damage. I've tweaked the resistances of various enemies so that seeking out the powerups gives you a definite advantage.

At the mo I am testing and fine-tuning the difficulty.

Stay Tuned. [8D]

Good stuff Pro,

I'll probably need a lot of help with the savegame for my current mod too, although it's a lot more 'structured' than Conquest was.

Yes, there are problems with torches and fires in OpenGL. Prospero is fixing these bugs for the save-friendly version.

Hi Ramage. [8D]

It seemed to be the log fires that were causing the crashes. Also, for some reason the combo damage effects. One or the other.[?] I've removed all the log fires and replaced them with wall torches and so far no crashes.

Been a bit busy the last few weeks so no time to test, but it's just about done.[:D]

Well I finally have the new version in some sort of shape.[:D]

http://www.petrbnsfineart.com/bladestuf ... nquest.zip

It's a completely seperate mod. No need to unnstall the original version.

Be interested in any feedback concerning the difficulty or any other bugs/crash points. The only occasional crashes I have lately are during respawning. I have retained the original respawn and ranking system. Changed some of the respawn points so you spawn in safe places.

btw. With the Dwarf, his start weapon is a modded version of the War Axe. I tried to improve the strike areas as the original one is a bit iffy in theis regard. Try it out and see if it works better.

Happy Slashing. [:p]
