Wow... I came here just to post this very thing. I didn't expect it to ever appear on GOG or anything. I voted for it when they had a Wishlist up, but it only got about 200 votes or so after a couple months.

I will probably buy it just because I can.

I was thinking of opening a thread about the subject here, but it seems you guys already know about this. Anyhow I just rebought myself a digital copy of Bod from GoG. No need for a disc anymore and the digital edition is compatible with newer pcs.

Yeah, great news indeed. :D

I am also thinking of getting a GOG copy soon and experience the game with the other characters. So far I have managed to finish the game with the Barbarian.

GOG is really amazing. Hopefully more people will get to know Blade of Darkness / Severance now. :)

For anyone who has downloaded this version, could you please check what video options are available in the 'setup' menu?
I'm wondering if it ships with rOpenGL as the default renderer, or if GoG somehow managed to get a new directX.dll compiled (which would be very interesting).

From what I've read at GOG.com, it ships with 3Dfx as the default renderer, using the Nglide wrapper. But you can also choose opengl and direct3d.

It's great news guys, once i saw it on gog i was like :shock: , it just recieved 1,1k votes but still got released, tis amazing! Hope many people experience how awesome the game is and grow a love for it!

Okay I bought it off of GOG. It comes installed with the OpenGL raster.

Strangely, it runs with 3DFX selected (Voodoo 1-2; Voodoo 3 has the black text issue), even displaying the 3DFX logo at startup. Max resolution in this mode is 800 x 600, though.

D3D has the same issues with Windows 7 that it does with the retail game (meaning: black text).

That's the nGlide wrapper running. If you look in the BoD game folder, there should be "nglide_config.exe". Run this, and set your max screen resolution. That should allow full res in game.

Yeah, it's good to have an alternative rendering option. What I like about using 3Dfx is that the menu and in-game F1 menus and text are all displayed at 800x600, so they're nice and big on screen (playing at 2560x1600 with OpenGL makes the 256x256 menus look tiny). The menu RGB is wrong, but the images can be fixed with irfanview.

Hello fellow BOD maniacs :D
So as I understand there's no need for OpenGL and Fogfix to properly run digital BOD version on Windows 7? Does anyone know if BOD PROPERLY runs on Windows 8? If not than I'm sticking with Win7 just because ocationally I like to cut a few limbs here and there :D

PS: I still can't believe how underrated BOD is. Why on earth is "Rune" more popular than BOD? Nobody mentions BOD in the lists of best hack & slash games. Sad...
