Blade still alive?

Postby Sir Random » Mon Jul 13, 2015 3:23 pm

Hi guys, good to see there's still some activity here :)

I have some free time now, so I'm gonna reinstall BoD and dig out my old mod files. I have lots of crazy stuff still unreleased so hopefully there are still some people that might be interested.

Hi Blackbeard,
I just installed on win 8.1 from original CD, added the U.S. patch + rOpengl and no problems so far (except Ragnar kicking my butt)

Just now I'm watching a (really funny) LP of BoD - my very first LP - to see how others like the game. Think I'll restart a char soon.

I just installed nglide1.4, used nglide_config.exe to set res to 1920x1080 and aspect ratio to 4:3 and the game looks awesome on my TV :D

Do you have to configure other settings? I'm also playing the US version + patch (GoG version) + fogfix, settings are rOpenGL with 1920*. Also the same screen resolution on nglide with 4:3 ratio. But the game runs in 16:9 for me. Win 7 64bit

Hi Bud Bud,
You need to change the Blade video settings to use "r3Dfx Voodoo 1-2" instead of "rOpenGL". Set the resolution to 800x600 and that will only apply to in-game menus (nice and big). The nglide raster will apply 1920x1080 to the actual game (nglide config).

You should see the 3Dfx logo when starting the game, just after the intro movie.

Enjoy the awesomeness! :)

Ty, works fine. 4:3 looks so unusually small. :D

Installed it and played for a bit, can say im happy i did that, makes me kinda wish i had installed it earlier.
But perhaps i dragged it out for longer just to get that certain feeling again when playing it.

Created a barbarian, cause big swords.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. No other game gives me that certain feeling, no matter how good a game it is.
I'm actually surprised at how much I have forgotten, but the tough parts are etched into my brain forever, having spent hours/days trying to get past them on my first play through. I remember staying up all night struggling through the forge of xshathra on low health, feeling hot and sweaty from the constant bubbling of the lava... :D

Yep, make just one mistake and 90% of your health is gone in a 'great ork' slash fest. Just got through Shalatuwar, which has lots of them.

Now, Orlok or Nemrut :?:

P.S. My niece's boyfriend has been watching me play, and has installed it to his laptop. A new fan in the making! :D
