From the manual. I can cast spell by summoning from the spell screen. But I can't do it without the spell screen.

The manual says:

1. put away all hand weapons.

2. press and hold circle button. <b>Press the directional buttons in proper sequence</b> to summon the spell you want to cast.

3. offensive spells need you to press the square button to use the spell.

What is the proper sequence?

That's one of the most useful things you can teach yourself in Drakan. Reason being, obviously, that the game continues while you access your inventory.

I've memorized every spell casting motion. Man I've played this way too many times.

It's actually quite confusing to the newbie.

To start the spell, you have to press a direction to move Rynn's hand to the "start position).

And this extra arrow move is not mentioned in the instructions.

For example, for lightning:

Up
Left
Right
Down

The up is the extra move.
