I have a Geforce NX6800GT and I have the same problem, I downloaded the savefile, thanks Lord William, And I can play the first lvl. But when I "bind" with Arokh I get the same crash again. Could someone upload savegames throughout the game 1,2,3,4?[8)]
Or anyone got any "fix" to this problem?

I'd really appreciate it, really.

Crashes are sometimes caused by the sound settings in the drakan engine options. Try turing off A3D which is enabled by default and then if that does not work, try EAX then finally 3D sound.

In my meager efforts to help, I offer thee this package of save files:
http://www.thothie.com/4jiggly5/drakan_random_saves.rar

If ye need a rar unzipper, go here:
http://www.rarsoft.com/download.htm

In the archive there are two folders, critical and random. Copy the individual files in the subfolder to your drakan/save game folder - not the folders themselves.

Critical contains the After Alwren Save, and the Beginning of the Game save.

Random contains, well, the random saves I made as I completed the game. The descriptions range from vague to useless, so the best you can do is sort them by date and hope they are in order of progress made through the game. ;)

It's not much, but maybe it'll help.

...now if only I could get FF7 and Magic Carpet running on this thing.

Shogon:

Here's a Level 2 beginning savefile. I see Thothie has put up a package of saves, so you may not need this one. I have a couple of others at the beginning of some other levels so post here or send me a message if you need them. The link is http://home.comcast.net/~cascade_bill/y ... 2begin.zip.

Another good RAR unzipper is 7zip a freeware program available at:

http://www.7-zip.org/.

Thothie:
Glad to see that you got things working.

Ok, here`s one for you, I can`t even get it to install on my main rig, the installation just shuts off, The game works perfectly on my laptop, and both use the same OS, Win XP, with the same updates and service packs.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum!
Drakan is picky about running on modern hardware. It can be a number of things, does it give any specific error when it quits during installation?

Thank you for the welcome.

Afraid not, it justs stops and blinks off, returning me to my desktop.
No message of any sort...

Least it works on my laptop.

I would say corrupt installer but seem as it works on another system, I don't know off the top of my head. Usually, an error is reported. BTW is anything been logged in the system event log?

Check your mail. If the game still crashes, try turning off 3D sound then if that does not work, try developer mode.

I'm experiencing two problems related to this.

The first is fixable (as long as I don't watch the movies).

The second problem is that I cannot return to any level after visiting it.

I've found the hammer and Arokh has got his lightning power.

Now I'm returning to the islands to undertake the test.

But, as soon as I enter the islands area, the game crashes.

I can't go any further then that.

Please don't tell me I'll have to do this again further into the game.

Why don't worthless useless Microsoft provide proper Legacy support?

It's enough to make me install dual-booting operating systems, one for Windows XP and one for Windows 98.

This is another bug that occurs after installing the 445 patch but however this patch is required to play it on XP/2000. I have a save game I managed to create on my old PC as Drakan crashes on my current PC bought 4 years ago. Email me if you want it. Note that another game stopping bug can occur on the volcano world level; best follow the walkthrough (on this site) for that one to avoid it.

On some levels, you cannot go back to the previous one such as the first and second halves of the first level and the second level.
