I disagree, too. The sad thing about Ancients Gate is that it's only a sp game, it'll be popular for awhile and fade. There's no multiplayer or editor to keep it going as OOTF has.

Don't want to say anything bad, but www.irock.com was not updated for almost 3 months now. Guess what this can mean.

I found another game tho! Check http://www.primal-soft.com/ . The game itself seems to have really bad graphics (extremely low polygon num) and I doubt that a noname russian team could make a playable game, but who knows.

Ahh, and AT! Drakan1 was for PC - and u can see what Surreal could achieve. Only we, a really few members of Drakan form a community and play - it is not the biig popularity as I (and I guess Psyhognics) had expected. The ppl using PS2 are quite more capable of this genre - on PCs can be action and strategy well sold.

Back to the subject of emulators for a moment. This link is directly to a .zip file. Otherwise, you have to click on a multitude of prOn advertisements in order to get to the download. I'll leave it up here for a few days and then remove it. So if you want to try this emulator, get it now.
It is called ps2emu1.0. And as for it's validity, I have yet to get it to work. I automatically get an error message window that if closed, scandisk is automatically launched and if scandisk is closed, my system reboots.

( link deleted because it has been verified that this program is garbage )

I wouldn't recommend downloading this emulator, I ran it, clicked on one of the buttons and it immediatley came up with a hard disk error, then something about scandisk and rebooted my PC without warning. On reboot, it would appear the program tried to write something to my hard disk's boot sector but failed.

I would not try it.

Thanks AT.

The more PS2 emulators that can be found and tested and results of those tests being posted will merely illustrate to the public that you will not be able to "stumble" across a legitimate EMU. So, advice is don't waste your time searching the net for one.

If a valid PS2 EMU was released, you would hear about it outside the forums everywhere on the net. It would be big time news indeed.

well, if your'e right about PC people being first person shooter people then I'm certainly in the minority. I used to like them but now REALLY prefer 3rd person. I'm sure I agree with you however. Look at all the quality 3rd person games that have come out for the PC Drakan, of coursr, Blade of Darkness, Heavy Metal,Rune, Dragonriders of Pern and Heretic 2 to name a few. Then you have roleplayers like Vampire the masquerade with graphics and gameplay as good as many action games. Then there are games like Oni, which I underatand worked much beter on the keyboard than the console.
but when it comes down to it for me. I'll buy a PC but not a device to just PLAY (not edit or tweak) games and a Any future Drakans would have been guaranteed sales to me. But possibly I am in the minority. But if so, why d these games keep being produced (thank God they do).

Some minds should be cultivated, others should just be ploughed over.

We are both in minority. Welcome.

I don't want a console just to play - I also like editing and producing. BUT THERE ARE SIMPLY NO MORE GAMES FOR PC LIKE THIS! CAN'T ANYONE SEE THIS? ALL GAMES FROM THIS GENRE GO FOR CONSOLES, WHILE ONLY NONAME-EXTREMELY LOW QUALITY GROUPS WRITE SUCH GAMES FOR PC!! The better projects are usually cancelled like Savage Skies. RIP.

i think if we can not run current D:TAG release on PC then we can wait for ripped version for PC in size of about 1 CD ... but it is possible if that game would be really intresting it terms of selling that ripped version ...

Hmm!

Ripped version? It HAS to be quite ripped, since on DVD it is almost 2GB big, and a CD can fit only 670 Mb. So in this case:

RIPPED VERSION= D2:TAQ - Cutscene - Sound - Everything

Hmm, that will be an interesting game! Too bad that everything which would worth playing with it will be cut out.

heh ... why '-Everything' ??? and for you to know - in PC Drakan cutscenes are STOMP-based that is not pre-rendered movies .. that almost do not eat space ... it simply scenario for actors ... so i hope if D:TAG based on the close enough engine so they may keep this principle there... a for Sounds - i hope in 2002 year Surreal or $ony finally implement MPEG layer III like compression for sounds that aslo reduces size of databases a lot, comparely to 'non-multimedia' compression in Drakan:Order of the Flame engine version ...

but mainly : if you like Cutscenes/Sounds you possibly not need a game itself - buy a DVD with good fantasy film - may you would get better result...

Well I'd hate to see what a ripped version of D:TAG would play like if the movies don't take up that much space. The levels and database files would barely fit on a single 650 MB CD. The .BIN file itself is over 1 gig. That's a lot of media, whatever it is, to end up on the cutting room floor. Even a 950 MB CD ripped version would leave out 1 gig of "material". I'm not saying it can't be done - where there is a will there is a way - but no ripped version will come close to the playing experience of the real thing.
Anyhow, if burned to DVD-R or RW media, nothing would have to be sacrificed.

heh ... looks funny enough - if you so much want to keep that 1 Gb of data so it is easily possible to make 2 CD version ... again _if_ that game would be enough populair ... because at my country any 1 CD soft costs ~$2 and 2 CD soft ~$4 ... but i remember some PC games like Baldurs Gates for example that was 5 CD !

Assassin

respectfully,no I can't see that there aren't any games
like this because I named quite a few. Dragonriders of Pern although an inferior game is about as close as you can come by almost any definition. Now just out is Gothic and Soul Reaver 2. Even that skittles game Darkened Sky is the same genre. And Roleplaying stuff is everywhere on PC if you want to include that. In most cases I agree it's not quite the same thing but sometimes the line gets blurry like in Blade of Darkness and Crusaders of Might and magic.
I'm not saying 3rd person fantasy action adveture or even 3rd person action advnture is the hotest thing out there. What I am saying is it's popular enough that quality titles keep being produced on a fairly regular basis.

Some minds should be cultivated, others should just be ploughed over.
