Drakan Sound Issue

I managed to get Drakan to install on my new PC without issue, but during the opening scene when the ogres attacked the villagers the people's screams were very distorted. Does anyone know of a fix for it? I had previously installed the 445 patch. Maybe that's the issue?

Make sure the A3D and EAX are turned off on the sound tab of the riot engine options.

Ok I'll make sure of that. I also noticed, in the options menu, that whenever I tried to click on video options the game automatically crashes to the desktop. Old games really do only like working with obsolete operating systems, haha. I actually have had games in the past like that.

I'm running Drakan on Win7 now, and haven't experienced any sound issues.
However, has anyone noticed a problem with 'new game' crashing the user back to the desktop when running on Win7 or XP? I have the 445 patch by the way.

Install the 10th anniversary mod. It fixes issues with intro level crashes I believe.
