player created levels freeze up when text apears

I've posted this on Planet Drakan so apologies for any repetition.
I've downloaded and installed the 445 patch but when I try to play any new levels they freeze up as soon as text appears and I can't do anything except manually restart my pc. Anyone else had this problem?
Is this an installation issue and if so do I have to uninstall Drakan and reinstall it and the patch? Arokhs Twin said he'd post the 445 patch on this site - Is it up yet? Thanks to everyone for previous help and I hope someone can help me with this and save me from the clutches of Lara Croft.

Make sure you have the complete game installed, including multiplayer, and you're in developer mode. The read-me in each level should tell you where to create your new folder to put the files.
I had the same freezes and crashes until I bumped up my ram from 64 to 128, I don't know why, but it fixed the problem.

Pretty sure I have the full game installed. I've unzipped the levels to their correct folders. I was in developer mode. The levels loaded and played until text appeared on the screen. I have 256Mb ram so it's not this. I'll try downloading the patch from Arokhs Twin but I think the original download was ok. Do I have to reinstall the whole game in order to reinstall the patch? Once again, thanks to everyone for their help.

OK. I'VE BEEN VERY THICK. I UNZIPPED THE PATCH AGAIN, OVERWRITING THE ORIGINAL FILES AND REINSTALLED THE PATCH. SAME FREEZE ON TEXT.
I PRESSED EVERY BUTTON TO NO AVAIL - THEN I PRESSED THE SPACE BAR.
DOH!!!
IF ANYONE THINKS THEY'RE HAVING THE SAME FREEZE UPS ON TEXT JUST PRESS THE BLOODY SPACE BAR!
IN MY DEFENCE I WORK VERY TIRING HOURS.

That's funny! I know the texts are to help the story but I kind of find them annoying, especially the ones that don't go away after one space-bar press.

Hmm... okay, I agree that sometimes they can be annoying, but why to play without knowing the storyline???? That seems to be pointless to me...

I didn't find them annoying - I was just stupid enough to think my pc was freezing up when they first happened.
Where's my pills?

Oh, fear not. Not you are the first who has problems with drakan... I remember myself going crazy with Rynn not attacking (I forgot to calibrate the key...

). BTW - it is really interesting how buggy the game is sometimes, isn't it?
