I don't know if only I'm so shortsigthed, but I think I'm really not understanding a few things properly. Would somebody enligth me why Surreal has -umm- finished-off Drakan for PC?? I thougth it is a good enough to continue. But not. Only for PS2!! If the PC-players need a game, then they will write one for themselves!?? (thanks for DO:TQ)
I don't think that Drakan2 or DO:TQ would a so bad choice for Surreal to continue. Many likes these games, and there almost no opponents on the market (just look at Flying Heroes or at the Dragonrider. ;( OMG... ). The only problem here is this too simple. If I would be Surreal, I would hastly try to get DO:TQ(of course only in case it would remain free for us) and try to get rigths for Drakan2 for PC. (OK, Sony bougth the rigths. But not D2 would be first game which has been adapted to PC from a console). The only thing they will reach this way is that they will loose a big game. Even if they will do a game again, it will be harder to get it bougth by people(harder then to make them buy Drakan2...), because of tons of poor quality stuff(games mentioned above).It's a pity.<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Anyway, as long as there so many player created levels, I'm going to hope.(and start to spare money for a PS2...)

I'm sorry for writing and sucking down other games, but I wanted to show how many bad games can be created from a good topic(all of them could have been as good as Drakan. As for the Dragonrider: shame on the ones who created the controls!!!)

Drakan2 was originally going to be a PC game. The thing is, like you say, Psygnosis (the game's publisher and the owner of the Drakan trademark) got bought by Sony. Seem as Sony thought that Drakan2 would be a killer title for their PS2 and the PC is a competitor, Drakan2 PC was cancelled. I would also imagine it would cost too much money for Surreal to buy back the rights to the game and then sell them to another publisher. I doubt they would publish the game themselves.

Surreal had to switch Drakan2 to the PS2 a few months into the development of the game.
Its not going to be called Drakan2 either as technically it isn't a sequel; if you had a PS2 and have never played the PC version, it would be Drakan1.
Surreal however, assure us that it is a sequel of the original PC game but it has been changed slightly so the game can stand on its own without players having to play the first game to know what happened. I would guess that the game is set a week or so where the PC game left off and there will be a short backstory explaining the Order and Rynn awakening Arokh. There's no nention of Delon however...
