Modified dragon textures and weapons

When I created the Metal Arokh file, some people asked me how I changed all the textures and weapons, so I'll tell you how to do it.

First, select the model with the textures you want to change. Right-click it, go to Build - Textures, and make a note of the names all the textures that are used in that particular model.

Next, if you have the new editor, export all the textures used in the model into bitmap files. If you don't have the new editor, either download it, or zoom the texture in to the original size in the databases window and use the printscreen key to take screenshots.

Then, edit the bitmaps to your preference. If you want to make part of the bitmap transparent, you need to make an alpha map. I don't have much experience with alpha maps, so I don't know all the details, but Sageous put together an armor texture walkthrough. It will tell you how to make an alpha map, along with many other things.

When you have finished editing the bitmaps, go back to the editor and the database window. While viewing the textures in the model's database, left click on the texture you want to change and go to Build - Replace Texture. Choose the bitmap that corresponds to the texture, and now all models that used the old texture will now use the one you edited.

To make new dragon weapons, duplicate objects from the Dragon Weapons section of the Resources database into your own custom one. Edit their properties, such as model, damage, and max speed, so that you get the weapon you want. Use existing dragon weapons as examples.

This is what Metal Arokh looks like so far:

By the way, there's a new version of Metal Arokh available. This one is a simple system file replacement, and when you install it, Arokh will become Metal Arokh in all instances. Download it at http://www.mninter.net/~cathyh/MetalArokhFiles.zip
