Rune, Drakan, and Crusaders are my favorites. I go back and play them regularly. As in third-person, you just naturally want to keep the character alive, as you can see them taking damage. I play a first-person shooter and just get through it, and don't have any desire to play it again. Well, what this post has to do with this I don't know.

Hmm!

Interesting!

Have you ever tried Dragonriders?? I did! Poor Pern... that game set my nerves on edge. Speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and speaking and.... a bit monoton for me.

Soul Reaver 2 and those could be ok... I would not really call them RPG though. I would rather call games like Might and Magic 7 or 8 to be RPG, but it has a so horrible graphics what I can hardly endure. SR2, Rune and Crusader would be OK - but they have the error what irritiated me in Drakan also - they are 100% action orientated. Okay, MM8 is also action orientated, but not that much (you must do many things besides killing). The game called "The I of the Dragon" would also be good - IN CASE THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING WHAT THAT HACKIN' GRAPHICS ENGINE! AAAIEEEE! HOW DO THOSE ****** DRAGON LOOK? OMG!!!! HAVEN'T THEY GOT EYES TO SEE WITH?!

And about RPG addons in PC games - if a game which has 1% rpg in it is an RPG game for you, than you will quite lucky. I prefer totally RPG games (or mostly).

Ahhh! yes, Rune is one of the best, but as you said, ALL action oriented. That's something they fixed in Drakan: TAG and the newer RUNE game as well, but not as much.

Yep, I did play Dragonriders, it should of been strictly an adventure game dealing with puzzles. The camera control sucked big time.

Anyone play the old Interplay game 'Die By The Sword'? Now, I see where the Rune guys got a lot of their inspiration. Taste steel, beast!

<i>Die By The Sword</i>
Never finsihed it. Lost interest.

Linear gameplay. No subquests. AI with one track mind - kill you. Too much hack 'n' slash. Too many boring logic puzzles. Almost nonexistant camera control.

Dealing more damage with momentum was interesting at first, but then became annoying. Game characters should be an extension of the player, not something the player has to manipulate like a Muppet.

Dreamwork's <i>Trespasser</i> failed in the same respect. Having to manipulate character's arm/hand in order to pick up objects and aim guns. Bad idea. Another unfinished game.

I agree.

There are many games which are ALMOST finished... and sometimes even Drakan seems to be the same. Seeing how good ideas have the players who create levels done, I wonder why didn't Surreal implent the same. It can't be that the creators of the game did not knew the highest limits of the game!!

And the bugs... yay, wish they would have tested a bit further!

Same goes to Might and Magic serie (6,7 and 8). Can't be they failed to see these bugs!! They ruin the otherwise perfect game! And also the bugs ruin Ultima9. It is frustrating to reload every 15 mins because of a bug, and see the one-third of your saved games fail to load due to bugs again!!

Yes, it would be nice if publishers would give the developers a chance to perform a complete bug hunt before releasing products that cost consumers anywhere from $30 to $50. And even then not all the bugs get fixed after a patch. Nice.

That's why console developers have to make sure their games are more or less bug free as once its released, a patch cannot be applied to correct any mistakes. PC developers unfortunatley seem to have the attitude 'sod it, we will release it now and fix the bugs later in a patch' - which is usually a few tens of megabytes.

I understand that Drakan: TAG suffers badly from clipping errors and Rynn and Arokh get frequently stuck on scenery requiring a restart. Or Rynn will sometimes fall through the ground - just like in Drakan: OOTF!

i think if we can not run current D:TAG release on PC then we can wait for ripped version for PC in size of about 1 CD ... but it is possible if that game would be really intresting it terms of selling that ripped version ...

Oh man! I know exactly what you mean! I wanna create maps as in Drakan, Heavy Metal, and Heretic 2, and such. With the PS2 harddrive being released, including a mouse and keyboard (rather odd) it would be a good thing for Companies like Surreal to release their new level editor or a Multiplayer MOD of somekind as the harddrive has internet connection and a version of Linux, blah, blah, blah.....

Hmm!

Ripped version? It HAS to be quite ripped, since on DVD it is almost 2GB big, and a CD can fit only 670 Mb. So in this case:

RIPPED VERSION= D2:TAQ - Cutscene - Sound - Everything

Hmm, that will be an interesting game! Too bad that everything which would worth playing with it will be cut out.

Nothing wrong with putting it on 2 CD's lots of games have that. although for pple with small space (under 10-15 gigs) installing ripped DVD rom games wouldn't be too good an idea.....
