Blender

Post by Blackbeard »

I've started to learn and make models with blender.
Is there a way for importing/exporting models for BoD?
Like what do i need to do? Is there a guide/video for it?

It's complicated....

First, you need 3DMax version 2.5. Then you need to install the BOD Plugins in it.

You can't buy version 2.5 so you have to find it though other means which I shouldn't mention here.
Higher versions are not compatible with the plugins unfortunately. Also I cannot get the plugins to work with Win10 so
I have to use my old Win 7 PC. (I said it was complicated)

To load models into Max they need to be in .3DS format. (I think) Once you have them in Max you can save them in .max format
and from there export them as a .BOD file which the game uses.

Despite making literally 1000s of models I am not an expert in these matters. I know as much as I need to and no a lot more.

damn, sounds messy.

was hoping there would be something easier, like an addon/plugin for blender.

But, ill still probably model more items, at least i can train on making them.

This is a max script capable of exporting max files as BOD files in higher versions.

I hope you can continue to model more items. Although I have not used blender, I have thought about writing a blender export script. :D

Great! Are they textured?
I think I need your model file as a reference to study blender scripts.

they have texture, but its as basic as they come, ive only filled in the faces with color, and thats about it.
I could upload it to Sketchfab and then you can download it from there.

(edit) heres a sketchfab link, hope it works (it should, i tested and the download includes a .blend for model and .png file for texture)

max scripts

Post by cieply »

You may want to check these max scripts for 3dsmax 9 (also 7, and 8 from my tests).
