Edit: And another remark regarding music, would be nice if Level Editor let you put your own music in the level the proper way, it can only be imported as regular sounds, so no nice transitions as with original tracks. There should be soundbox settings that let you cleanly transition between areas,...

Surreal Software had a very bad marketing for the game. The Surreal Software devs were very gracious. I never would blame them. I just wanted to reply back to say that I also get the .dll missing errors. All MS Redistributables are installed. I also repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled. Still not working.

Any chance we can get an update here, or maybe package the needed files with the download?

UCyborg, you are like the best thing to ever happen to the Drakan community along with DrakonRider. I wish I had the coding knowledge the both of you had. I would have found a way to take control of the engine to make the game I wanted.

We used to just convert REO to 3ds formats and then convert that to whatever we wanted. Then we edited and reversed the conversion. And did you know the actual max players limit on dedicated server is 64? Really, if you use -maxpayers parameter, it goes that high. Even if no one uses it, I think I might take a shot at an HD mod. I have an artist available. I still remember how to texture map in the modeler.

If memory serves me correctly mipmapping was available for LOD textures on animated objects like NPCs Rynn and Arokh. Besides that it was never available. I think devs specifically mentioned it was practically a defunct engine feature.

The game works! I was able to set my keybindings and start a game normally with a completely fresh install. I made a backup of this working version so I can tinker now without the risk of this breaking. It's surprising how well this engine has scaled to modern hardware. The lighting is still really ...
