Game lokcs up because of starting movie

Im having the same problem as most people with Windows XP I think. I got a save game to skip it but will movies later in the game do the same thing? Also somone said the codec has something to do with it where can I get one that will play it

we have recently learned, that if you play with an 800 X 600 resolution, many of the cut scenes will not crash.
